For years I worked as a staff photographer in the trade show and convention industry. I’d travel around the country to different events making highly deadpan photographs that depicted enthusiastic and record breaking crowds, people interacting over new products, booth displays and various related promotional events. It was a way to support myself to make art. Years later I exhibited my own work at a contemporary art fair and realized it was the same culture I’d experienced years before — not far off from the Meat and Dairy Convention.
